Roger Bingham is Co-founder and Director of The Science Network (TSN), a web-based organization concerned with the intersection of science and social policy. Bingham established this organization in order to enlarge the constituency of reason and provide a trusted destination for those concerned with science and its impact on society. TSN is responsible for many entertaining and informative programs on science including the acclaimed Beyond Belief series.

Bingham is a member of the Computational Neurobiology Laboratory at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies and the Institute for Neural Computation at UC San Diego. Previously, he was a visiting associate in biology at the California Institute of Technology. He is the co-author, with Peggy La Cerra, of The Origin of Minds: Evolution, Uniqueness, and the New Science of the Self, which describes a mind that is dynamic and ever-changing, redesigning itself with each life experience.

Bingham has long been concerned with the communication of science. He was the creator and host of award-winning PBS science programs on evolutionary psychology and cognitive neuroscience. His latest PBS program was the critically acclaimed The Human Quest, a four-part series that explores the search for meaning through science. Bingham was also Creator and Executive Producer of the KCET-TV (PBS/Los Angeles) Science and Society Unit. His programs - notably the Frontiers of the Mind series (including “The Addicted Brain”, “The Sexual Brain”, “The Time of our Lives” and “Inside Information”) - have been broadcast from Australia to Zimbabwe, in languages from Hebrew to Mandarin Chinese and are used in high schools and universities worldwide.

Bingham has received many honors for his communication of science, including the National Magazine Award, seven Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards, the American Psychological Association Award for Excellence in Television, and the Writer’s Guild of America award for Outstanding Documentary Script.
