biomarine business convention and summits

In 2008, the French presidency which, at the time, was developing its maritime agenda,  acclaimed BioMarine Forum as it was the first in its kind to target a full spectrum of marine issues, bringing  together global industrial and business partners already committed to the project and displaying an exceptional potential of communication.

A few weeks after, the BioMarine team and its international board concentrated on the next step forward which was to create platforms of economic valorization in the marine sectors.  Thus, Industry, Finance and Science became the core of business conferences organized to promote and accelerate economic development.

BioMarine is a private Canadian and French initiative at the crossroads of research, business and world events, bringing together the major participants of the world on two main platforms:

  • Business and investment:

"BioMarine Business Convention" is organized around a platform of meetings and discussions for industrials, scientists, investors and representatives of local communities, allowing them to boost their acquisitions, investments, trade agreements, technologies transfers, development partnerships at an international level.  Its goal is to develop small, medium and national companies on the international stage.

This Business Convention is also a triennial event.  Starting March 2011 in France (Nantes & Saint -Nazaire), the convention will then set foot in Canada in 2012 and China in 2013.

  • Thematic summits:

Geopolitics:  Reconfiguration of trade, particularly in European transportation where the Commission is aiming at reducing road transportation and increasing maritime transport, will quickly become an issue of considerable importance and our secondary ports on the Atlantic front must position themselves on this fundamental transformation of logistic flow (this will be the main topic of BioMarine Geopolitics as a prelude to the business convention on 21 March 2011 at Saint- Nazaire)

Monaco Blue Initiative (in partnership with both Foundations Albert I and Albert II and the Oceanographic Institute):  Monaco Blue Initiative is a not-for-profit venture whose mission is to nurture innovative solutions to advance ocean sustainability worldwide. 30 champions will attend this one day working session in Monaco (31 March and 1st April 2010) in order to promote marine biodiversity. This gathering will make the Monaco Blue Initiative an exceptional platform for discussion  between all of the ocean communities, including European and international leaders from business, science, government, civil society and the media.

Seas and Overseas: In partnership with the Secrétaire d'Etat à l'Outre-Mer, BioMarine organizes this one day event dedicated to the French islands and outermost regions. The objective is to foster marine and maritime initiatives and innovative projects involving the three main components: science, industry and civil society.  The first edition gathered over 200 experts in 2009 at the Oceanographic Institute in Paris.
